City of Mountain Home

A building permit is required for all new structures and major modifications within the City of Mountain Home.

Building code

2018 International Building Code (IBC) and 2018 International Residential Code (IRC), adopted effective December 31, 2020 (applies to all permits drawn on or after this date).

Contractor requirements

Contractors must be registered with Idaho for projects valued at $2,000 or more.

   Access the city's Pay & Apply page or visit City Hall to obtain permit applications and required forms.

   Prepare complete application with all required documentation.

   Submit application through the online portal or in person at City Hall.

   City staff reviews application for completeness and conformance with 2018 IBC/IRC standards.

   Pay permit fees as invoiced.
6. 06
   Obtain issued permit before beginning work.

Scheduling deadline

Inspections called in prior to 9:00 a.m. are scheduled for same-day inspection if available. Inspections called in after 9:00 a.m. are scheduled for next day (except roof deck inspections).

Inspection hours

Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
