When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Oconee County
The county's public handout says permits are required for most structural work and for regulated electrical, gas, mechanical, and plumbing work. The county Unified Development Code also states that a building permit is required before constructing, enlarging, altering, repairing, moving, demolishing, or changing occupancy of a building or structure, and before regulated electrical, gas, mechanical, or plumbing work.
Note: The county's public "Do I need a Permit?" handout is the main public exempt-work guide reviewed for this jurisdiction: https://www.oconeecountyga.gov/DocumentCenter/View/5465. No broader public exempt-work list beyond the county handout and code exceptions was found on the reviewed overview pages.
