When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Dade County
New construction in unincorporated Dade County requires an electrical permit from the Dade County Commission Office, and in most cases a septic system permit from the Dade County Health Department. The county also regulates flood damage prevention, signs, mobile home permits and decals, soil erosion and sedimentation control, utility accommodations on rights-of-way, and timber cutting and harvesting. The public record reviewed did not show a general county building permit requirement.
Note: No public unincorporated Dade County exempt-work list was located.
- Electrical permit coordination
- Septic permit where applicable
- 911 address
- Power service coordination
- State permits as needed
- Building code
- Dade County's public record reviewed does not show a current county webpage adopting or administering a general building permit program. Georgia DCA's statewide minimum standard codes remain the state baseline where the county enforces applicable construction or trade requirements.
- Contractor requirements
- The county's current public permit pages do not post a county-specific contractor licensing handout. State licensing rules for residential contractors over $2,500 apply.
