Permits and inspections are required for most construction projects, including new buildings, additions, alterations, remodeling, and installation of electrical, plumbing, or heating and air conditioning systems.

Georgia State Minimum Standard Construction Codes as enforced by Forest Park, plus local ordinances and any city amendments.

Owner-builder

Homeowners may apply for permits with the appropriate affidavit if they are doing the work themselves.

Contractor requirements

Building permits must be applied for by state licensed contractors, engineers, or architects unless the homeowner affidavit route applies.

   Create or log into your PCD Online Services account in Tyler EnerGov.

   Prepare required electronic documents including survey, plans drawn to scale, setbacks, contractor licensing, and supporting affidavits.

   Submit the permit application and upload required documents electronically through the portal.

   City staff reviews the application and performs plan review where required.

   Pay assessed fees once approved.

   After issuance, schedule inspections by email with the city.
