When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Ball Ground
Ball Ground issues building permits for residential and commercial construction within city limits. Development and land disturbance permitting is handled through the Planning and Zoning function and related city forms.

Application process
Typical processing: The city will try to provide next-day inspections for requests received before 2:00 PM.
- 01 Download the Building Permit Application and any related forms from the city Document Center.
- 02 Submit the completed building permit application and all supporting documents by email to Michelle Tanner at mtanner@cityofballground.com.
- 03 If sanitary sewer is not available within 300 feet of the property line, provide a septic permit from the Cherokee County Health Department before permit issuance.
- 04 Pay water and sewer capacity fees before the building permit is issued.
- 05 Staff reviews the application package; incomplete submittals that do not follow the checklist are rejected.
- 06 After issuance, request inspections through City Hall.
