When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Wildwood
Wildwood's Development Services Department handles the city's planning, zoning, and development functions, while county building services handles the building permit and inspection function under the FBC.
Note: Even where a county building permit may not be required, Wildwood may still require separate city approvals for zoning, impervious surface, driveway, sign, ROW, tree, or other development-related work.

Application process
Application → plan check → issuance → inspection → final
- 01 Confirm the parcel is in Wildwood city limits and check whether it is within the Wildwood joint planning area.
- 02 Determine what city approvals are required first, such as zoning, site plan, sign, driveway, ROW, tree, concurrency, or other development approvals through Wildwood Development Services.
- 03 Submit required city development applications through CivicGov or as otherwise directed by Wildwood.
- 04 Prepare and submit the FBC building permit package to Sumter County Building Services through Citizenserve or in person.
- 05 Complete any impact-fee, site-plan, utility, floodplain, septic, or other required outside approvals.
- 06 Obtain county permit issuance before construction, then schedule county building inspections.
- 07 Complete all county inspections and any city final closeout conditions before occupancy, business registration, or final use.
