General Requirements

Permits are required for new buildings, additions, renovations, demolitions, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, reroofs, water heaters, signs, fences over 42 inches, and retaining walls over 3 feet. Fence and wall work and minor finishes should still be checked against exemption rules before submitting.

Permit validity

  • Interior cosmetic finish work and limited plumbing, electrical, and mechanical component replacements

Important: Exempt from permit does not exempt the work from zoning, other ordinances, or high fire zone compliance. Some projects still require zoning clearance, business registration, or other municipal approvals.
