Permit triggers and exempt work for Powell

Application process

- 01 Confirm the parcel's zoning classification with the Planning and Building Department. Powell's zoning code governs permitted uses, setbacks, height limits, and lot coverage. For uses not permitted by right, a conditional use permit (CUP) or variance may be required from the Board of Adjustment before a building permit can be issued.

- 08 For commercial and multi-family projects, initiate contact with the Wyoming State Fire Marshal's Office early in the permitting process. The State Fire Marshal reviews plans for fire and life safety compliance separately from the local building permit review.
- 09 Upon approval, permit is issued. Post the permit at the job site before beginning work.
- 10 Schedule required inspections with the Planning and Building Department at (307) 764-3416. Schedule electrical inspections separately with the Wyoming state electrical inspector.
- 11 Pass all final inspections. For commercial construction, a Certificate of Occupancy is required before occupying the building.
