A building permit is required for new construction, additions, structural alterations, demolition, interior/exterior remodeling, land disturbing activities (1 acre or greater), septic system installation, and any work valued at $2,500 or more.

• Exempt Agricultural buildings or structures utilized primarily for agricultural purposes (exempt from West Virginia State Building Code, State Fire Code, and county building code requirements)

Note: Agricultural exemption does not apply to tax, utility, and service obligations. Confirm exemption status with County Clerk before proceeding.
