A permit is required for any new structure, improvements costing more than $1,000, demolition or tearing down any structure, and land disturbance activities.

• Exempt Agricultural buildings and structures utilized exclusively for agricultural purposes may be exempt (state-level exemption; verify with town).

Note: Town of Bath does not override state agricultural exemptions but may impose additional local requirements for non-exempt agricultural uses. Confirm with Planning & Zoning.

Contractor requirements

Contractors must hold valid West Virginia Contractor Licensing Board license for projects meeting threshold requirements: residential projects $2,500 or more, commercial $5,000 or more, electrical work $1,000 or more.
