When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Logan County
A building permit is required for: new buildings or structures; alterations, enlargements, or remodeling of existing buildings; demolition of structures; sheds larger than 200 square feet; sheds with plumbing or electrical connections (regardless of size); garages (attached or detached, any size); finished basements; carports; decks and patios; fences 6 feet or taller; swimming pools and hot tubs; wood stoves; plumbing, mechanical, or electrical work; and any construction in floodplain areas (regardless of size).
- Exempt Buildings or structures used exclusively for agricultural purposes are exempt from State Building Code requirements.
Note: Agricultural exemptions must be verified with Logan County Code Enforcement Division. Consult with Code Enforcement before proceeding with exempt work.
