When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Hartford
Any construction, reconstruction, conversion, structural alteration, relocation, or enlargement of a building or structure; any change of use; new driveways.

- 02 Prepare a site sketch showing lot dimensions, property boundary lines, abutting streets, north arrow, existing and proposed driveways and structures with distances from property lines, surface water location, and floodplain notation.
- 03 Submit completed application with fee to the Planning and Development Services office.
- 04 Staff has up to 10 business days from receipt of a complete application to act on it.
- 05 Once approved, a state-mandated 15-day posting/appeal period applies before the permit is final.
- 06 Permit is issued; work must begin within 6 months and be completed within 2 years.
