Application Process

  1. Obtain the Building Permit Packet from the Tropic Town Office ($50.00 fee) or download it from https://townoftropicut.gov/planning-zoning/.
  2. Contact Marie Niemann at the Tropic Town Office (435-679-8713) with any questions about your project prior to submitting.
  3. Submit the completed application to the Tropic Town Office. The Town Planning Commission and Town Council will review and approve the project.
  4. Upon receiving written notice of Town Council project approval, submit this approval letter along with the building permit application to the Garfield County Building Inspector.
  5. Provide evidence of approved culinary water supply and approved waste disposal method (required for permit issuance).
  6. Garfield County Building Inspector issues the permit.
  7. Pay applicable fees to the county.
  8. Post permit card on site; keep approved plans on site throughout construction.
  9. Schedule inspections with the county building inspector no less than two working days in advance.
