Building code
East Carbon City enforces Utah's mandatory statewide code (2021 IBC, 2021 IRC, 2021 IPC, 2018 IMC/IFGC, 2020 NEC) through the Carbon County Building Department. City Code Chapter 9 may contain additional local building standards.
Permit validity
Governed by the 2021 IBC/IRC 180-day rules. A permit becomes invalid if work is not commenced within 180 days of issuance, or if work is suspended or abandoned for 180 days.
