City of San Angelo

A building permit is required for new construction, additions, renovations, alterations, repairs, change of occupancy, carports, house moving, and accessory buildings within the City of San Angelo.

Contractor requirements

Electrical, plumbing, and mechanical work must be performed by separate licensed contractors registered with the city. These contractors must obtain their own permits.

   Complete the Building Permit Application form for your project type (residential, commercial, addition, renovation, etc.).

   Prepare required construction and design documents (site plan, floor plan, elevation, foundation, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing plans as applicable).

   Submit the completed application and plans by email to the Building Permits & Inspections department.
4. 04
   City staff reviews the application and plans. Electronic review process routes to relevant departments.
5. 05
   Pay permit fees when the permit is issued.
6. 06
   Obtain required inspections at specified stages of construction.
7. 07
   Receive final approval upon completion of all inspections.
