Permit triggers and exempt work for San Angelo
A building permit is required for new construction, additions, renovations, alterations, repairs, change of occupancy, carports, house moving, and accessory buildings within the City of San Angelo.

- Contractor requirements
- Electrical, plumbing, and mechanical work must be performed by separate licensed contractors registered with the city. These contractors must obtain their own permits.

Application process
Application → plan check → issuance → inspection → final
- 01 Complete the Building Permit Application form for your project type (residential, commercial, addition, renovation, etc.).
- 02 Prepare required construction and design documents (site plan, floor plan, elevation, foundation, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing plans as applicable).
- 03 Submit the completed application and plans by email to the Building Permits & Inspections department.
- 04 City staff reviews the application and plans. Electronic review process routes to relevant departments.
- 05 Pay permit fees when the permit is issued.
- 06 Obtain required inspections at specified stages of construction.
- 07 Receive final approval upon completion of all inspections.
