When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Heath
Heath requires permits any time a person constructs, repairs, alters, erects, enlarges, converts, installs, or replaces an existing building or its utility systems. Examples include fences, storage sheds over 120 square feet, retaining walls over 24 inches, pools, interior remodels/additions, outdoor kitchens/fireplaces, OSSF replacements/repairs, cabanas/guest houses/outbuildings, seawall repairs/replacements, roofing, windows, foundation repair, irrigation, and miscellaneous plumbing/electrical/mechanical work.
- Exempt Storage sheds at or under 120 square feet may not require a permit
Note: No broader exempt-work table was identified on the reviewed public city pages. Confirm directly with the city before relying on any threshold-based exemption.
