When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Mingus
A building permit is required for any new construction and non-residential building projects. The permit process includes review of plans, issuance of a permit, inspections, and approval. Signs for commercial business purposes also require a permit.
- Building permit application
- Current survey
- Plans for review and approval
- Subcontractor validation form if subcontractors are involved
- Contractor registration materials where applicable
- Water meter release utility-service application for qualifying new construction
- Building code
- 2015 International Building Code, International Residential Code, International Fire Code, International Energy Conservation Code, International Plumbing Code, International Mechanical Code, International Fuel Gas Code, International Property Maintenance Code
- Contractor requirements
- The permit holder must use only subcontractors licensed, registered, or bonded by the City of Mingus where applicable. The contractor registration form requires company information and, for state-regulated trades, state license information. For electrical, HVAC, and plumbing contractors, registration fees are waived by state statute but company registration with the city is still required.
