When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Eagle Pass
Permits required for new construction, additions, remodeling and repair, pools, demolition, palapas, storage sheds, garages, carports, porches, fill and grade work, curb cuts, moving structures, fences, and driveways under Ordinance 2018-01.

Application process
Application → plan check → issuance → inspection → final
- 01 Register or log in to the city's SmartGov portal, or prepare an in-person/email submittal package for the Planning Department.
- 02 Submit the building permit application with required plans and supporting documents. Site, foundation, floor, elevation, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, drainage, and landscape plans required for applicable projects.
- 03 City staff routes the submittal through zoning and subdivision review, then fire review, then electrical and mechanical review, then building, drainage, and ADA review.
- 04 Pay permit and plan-check fees once the project is ready for issuance.
- 05 Obtain the issued permit before starting work. Fees double if work starts before permit issuance.
- 06 Request required inspections during construction and obtain final approval and certificate of occupancy or certificate of compliance at completion.
