When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for New Home
A permit is required before work begins for any owner or authorized agent who intends to construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, demolish, or change the occupancy of a building or structure, or to erect, install, enlarge, alter, repair, remove, convert, or replace electrical, gas, mechanical, or plumbing systems.
Note: No public exempt-work list was found in the official sources reviewed.
- Contractor registration
- Insurance certificate meeting the city's stated insurance requirement
- 2 sets of construction plans

- Energy report for new construction
- Commercial projects: any required sealed plans, Texas accessibility review proof or ADA project number, EPA NPDES/SWP3 items if applicable, and asbestos survey certification shown on the commercial form
