Lockney adopted the 2018 International Building Code for regulating the design, construction, alteration, repair, relocation, replacement, addition to, use, or maintenance of buildings and structures in the city, including issuance of permits and collection of fees. Lockney adopted the 2018 International Plumbing Code for regulating plumbing systems in the city, including issuance of permits and collection of fees. Lockney's zoning ordinance states certificates of occupancy and compliance may be required to be applied for at the same time as the application for building permit, and no permit for excavation for any building shall be issued before application has been made for a certificate of occupancy and compliance. Lockney also adopted the National Electrical Code, 2017 edition.
