Permit triggers and exempt work for Panhandle
A building permit is required for any case where the value of labor and materials is $1,000.00 or more. The city also requires permits before the erection, alteration, construction, or repair of any building, structure, wall, fence, outbuilding, storage building, and similar work. Roofing, plumbing, and electrical work require permits.

- 01 Confirm the parcel is inside Panhandle city limits and identify the zoning district and flood zone on the city application materials.
- 02 Obtain the correct permit form from the city's Utility and Building page. The city posts both a general building permit application and a roofing permit application.
- 03 Complete the application with owner, resident, contractor, project type, valuation, dimensions, square footage, and other required fields. For general building permits, the form also requires a site or plot plan drawn to scale showing distances to structures, property lines, and bordering streets or alleys.
