When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Toledo
Permits are required for demolition, certificates of occupancy, water taps, service releases, and residential exterior non-structural changes such as reroofing, window and door replacement, and new siding. Structural, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire alarm, and suppression work also require permits.
Note: Toledo explicitly requires permits for many common exterior and systems projects. Confirm any claimed exemption directly with Building Inspection before work starts.
