City of Strasburg

New construction, additions, and renovations require permits. Electrical, plumbing, and mechanical work must be permitted separately.

• Exempt Small accessory structures (sheds under 120 square feet) may be exempt from permits (verify locally).
• Exempt Minor alterations may not require permits (confirm with city).

Note: Always verify with the City of Strasburg before proceeding with work that may be exempt.

Building code

Must comply with North Dakota State Building Code if adopted by the city. Buildings must meet International Residential Code (IRC), International Building Code (IBC), International Mechanical Code (IMC), and International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) or local amendments. Compliance with local zoning ordinances is required.
