When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Graham County
No person may begin construction, reconstruction, alteration, repair, movement, removal, demolition, plumbing, heating/cooling, or electrical work without first securing the required permit(s).
- Exempt Construction, installation, repair, replacement, or alteration costing $5,000 or less in a single-family residence or farm building, unless the work involves load-bearing structures, plumbing design changes, HVAC changes, electrical changes, unapproved materials, or roofing additions.
- Exempt Warranty repairs to manufactured or mobile homes
- Exempt Accessory buildings with any dimension greater than 12 feet must meet the code provisions; smaller accessory buildings may be exempt if they meet the listed size and anchoring conditions.
