When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Alamogordo
New construction of any structure; additions to existing structures; alterations, renovations, and repairs that affect structural elements, life safety systems, or occupancy classification; demolition; accessory structures (sheds, garages, carports above threshold size); pools and spas; fences and walls above specified height; re-roofing; HVAC installation or replacement; electrical service upgrades or panel replacement; plumbing additions or extensions; and mobile/manufactured home installation.

- Permit validity

Contractor must provide license number and current bond and workers' compensation documentation at time of permit application.

- 01 Confirm that the project is within the incorporated city limits of Alamogordo. If outside city limits, the CID Las Cruces regional office is the permit authority.

- 03 Prepare required documents: completed application, site plan showing lot dimensions and building location setbacks, construction drawings (floor plan, elevations, foundation, framing, roof), contractor NM license number and insurance certificates, or notarized homeowner affidavit for owner-builder projects.
