When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Fort Calhoun
Additions; remodels (including basement remodels); accessory buildings; windows; doors; demolitions; decks/porches/sunrooms; solar panels; swimming pools; residential new construction
- Three (3) copies of plans
- Plans with dimensions, square footage, and layout
- Legal description of property
- Silt Fence Form (if building in subdivision or within village)
- Silt fence fee of $350.00 (if applicable)
- Building code

- Permit validity
- Permit becomes invalid if work not commenced within 180 days of issuance, or if work suspended or abandoned for 180 days
- Contractor requirements
- Contractor registration required under Nebraska Contractor Registration Act
Application process
Typical processing: 7-60 business days
- 01 Download and complete applicable permit application from city website or obtain from City Clerk
- 02 Submit three (3) copies of plans with dimensions, square footage, and layout
- 03 Include legal description of property (available on tax statement)
- 04 If building in subdivision or within Fort Calhoun, submit completed Silt Fence Form and silt fence fee of $350.00
- 05 Pay applicable permit fees
- 06 Submit to City Clerk at (402) 468-5303 or clerk@fortcalhoun.org
- 07 Review and approval: 7 business days minimum; Planning Department has up to 60 days
- 08 Application counter processing time: approximately 30-60 minutes for in-person submissions
