When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Pawnee County
Building anything new, including additions to existing structures; structural modifications that change roof size or pitch; adding anything new outside (sheds, decks, patios, driveways); moving an existing structure; work subject to zoning compliance
- Exempt Interior remodeling or repairs inside the house
- Exempt Replacing existing windows/door frames if the structure and size remain the same
- Exempt Roof replacement if the size and pitch remain the same
- Exempt Agricultural buildings on property with 20+ acres and $1,000+ in annual farm products (Nebraska Revised Statute § 23-114.03)
Note: On-site wastewater systems require permits from Nebraska DHHS/DWEE. Land disturbance of 1+ acre requires a Stormwater Notice of Intent (NOI) through NDEE.
