When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Republic
Republic publishes separate permit forms for commercial buildings, MEP work, demolition, fences, multifamily, new residential, accessory structures, outdoor furnaces, decks or patios, signs, grading, and related development work.
Note: No general public exemption list was clearly found on the Community Development page reviewed.
- Residential permit packet requires foundation plan, floor plans, roof plan, and a site plan showing north arrow, setbacks to drip edge, existing and proposed structures, parking and driveways, easements, floodplains, and other pertinent natural features
- Building code
- International Building Code and IRC sections, but the exact current adopted code set was not clearly summarized on the main page reviewed
- Permit validity
- Building permits are good for 180 days and are extended by passing inspections within each 180-day period.
- Contractor requirements
- Residential permit form asks for City of Republic business license number.

- 07 Obtain certificate of occupancy before occupancy or use.
