When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Carthage
Building permits are required for new construction, structural alterations, electrical/plumbing upgrades, HVAC installations, roof replacement on commercial buildings, additions, demolition, and septic system work.

- Contractors must meet Mississippi State Board of Contractors (MSBOC) licensing requirements: commercial projects exceeding $50,000 require a licensed commercial general contractor; residential projects exceeding $50,000 or roof/remodeling over $10,000 require a licensed residential contractor.
