Property owner waiver form is published; city guidance states that if the owner obtains the permit, the owner is responsible for the work and any required corrections.

Contractor requirements

City links to Minnesota contractor guidance and expects licensed contractors to pull permits for the work they perform.

   Create an account in the Our Community Connect portal or pick up forms from city hall.

   Upload or submit the permit application and all required plans and handouts for the project type.

   City building staff review for completeness and code compliance.

   Pay permit fees; the city page notes credit card payments are accepted for building permit fees up to $1,500 total.

   Receive the permit, keep the card on site, and schedule inspections through the permit specialist.
6. 06
   Complete required inspections and final approval before closing the permit.

Typical processing time: New home construction permits typically take up to 10 days from submission to issuance
