When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Ramsey County
The township FAQ says building permits are required for new construction and most home improvement projects, including windows, siding, roofing, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, additions, decks, fences, driveways, accessory buildings, and bathroom or kitchen remodels.
Note: The township FAQ publishes a list of work that does require permits, but not a concise exemption list. Applicants should verify minor or finish-only work with the township before proceeding without a permit.
