Permit triggers and exempt work for Meridian Township
The Building Division performs residential and commercial inspections and issues building, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing permits for regulated construction and new business buildout work.

Application process
Application → plan check → issuance → inspection → final
- 01 Submit a Building Permit Application to the Building Division with project name, address, owner, contractor, and project information.
- 02 Include the associated application fee and any checklist items required by the Building Division, Engineering Division, and Fire Department.
- 03 Township staff reviews the plans and comments back outstanding items if revisions are needed.
- 04 Resubmit revised materials until all reviewing departments approve.
- 05 Meridian issues the building permit specifying what work may proceed.
- 06 Complete staged inspections during construction and obtain certificate of occupancy after final approval.
