Permit triggers and exempt work for Hickman County

- 01 Confirm the project requires a building permit before beginning work per KRS 67.410.
- 02 Call or email Michael Sullivan to describe the scope, arrange documentation review, and book an intake appointment at the Hickman County Health Department.
- 03 Provide stamped plans/blueprints, property ownership proof, and the affidavit confirming contractors will comply with Kentucky workers' compensation and unemployment insurance requirements.
- 04 Pay the applicable permit and plan-review fees (fiscal court sets the valuation-based schedule).
- 05 Schedule inspections (footing, framing, utilities, final) by contacting the inspector; work must remain exposed/accessible per Kentucky Building Code Section 109.1.
- 06 Receive the building permit and proceed to certificate of occupancy/final approval after the final inspection passes.
