Unincorporated Caldwell County

Kentucky enforces the 2015 International Building Code statewide, so any construction, alteration, or equipment installation governed by that code must go through DHBC review before work begins.

Note: No exempt-work list is published for Caldwell County; ask the state inspector whether your scope qualifies for an exemption.

   Call or email Michael Sullivan to confirm whether DHBC or a local inspector will handle the project and to request any DHBC application packet.
2. 02
   Submit the required plans, cost estimates, and supporting materials (site layout, structural details, etc.) to DHBC as directed.
3. 03
   Pay the state-designated fees and wait for DHBC to issue the permit and associated plan review.
4. 04
   Arrange inspections with the DHBC inspector and the local electrical/plumbing/HVAC contacts listed for Caldwell County, then close out the permit directly with DHBC.

Typical processing time: Not published; contact the inspector for current lead times.

Fees are collected by DHBC when it processes the packet; the Caldwell County Health Department office coordinates the payment.
