Permit triggers and exempt work for Middlesboro

Application process
Typical processing: Approval or denial must occur within 30 days of submission.
- 01 Submit an application with dimensioned sketches showing the lot, existing and proposed buildings, uses, occupancies, drainage and other facts needed to verify compliance with the ordinance.
- 02 The Administrative Official reviews the materials and must grant or deny the permit in writing within 30 days, providing the causes of denial if the submission is not approved.
- 03 Construction, moving, demolition or structural alteration cannot begin until the permit is issued; working without a permit may prompt a restraining order.
- 04 Permits lapse six months after issuance without substantial progress but may be renewed without fee if the Administrative Official confirms ongoing work.
- 05 After notifying the Administrative Official that the work is ready for occupancy, a final inspection is conducted and a Certificate of Occupancy is issued or refused in writing.
