Contractor requirements

Any contractor performing work within city limits (including builders, roofers, and utility companies) must obtain a City of Linwood contractor license. License application fee: $25 (must accompany application).

   Download the Building Permit Application (Word document) from the Planning/Zoning page or obtain it from city hall.

   Complete the form and submit it to city hall prior to the monthly Planning and Zoning Commission meeting (second Tuesday of each month, 7:00 PM, City Hall, 215 Park Street).

   Attend the Planning and Zoning Commission meeting to answer any questions from commissioners.

   If approved by the commission, the application is forwarded to the City Council for final approval.

   Attend the City Council meeting if clarification is needed.

   Pay the permit fee and any required contractor license fee ($25 contractor license fee must accompany contractor license application).

   Once approved, obtain your permit and begin work.

Typical processing time: At minimum one monthly commission meeting cycle; may require a City Council meeting as well (total timeline typically 2-6 weeks depending on meeting schedule)
