When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Warren County
Before beginning new construction, or altering or repairing existing buildings or structures if the work affects structural strength, sanitary conditions, fire hazards, or poses a threat to personal or public safety.
- Exempt Fences are excluded from the county building code scope in the reviewed section.
- Exempt Industrialized building systems or mobile structures certified under I.C. 22-15-4 are excluded from the reviewed building code scope.
- Exempt Floodway work still requires DNR approval before local permit issuance.
- County application form; detailed plans and specifications; plot plan; required state design release; any other information the Building Commissioner deems necessary.

Reinspections of incomplete or not-ready work are subject to fees in Section XI; no further work may progress until the prior phase is approved.
