When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Wabash County
An Improvement Location Permit is required whenever a person plans to construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, or change the occupancy of a building or structure. The county FAQ specifically lists new construction, renovations and alterations, and occupancy changes.
- Exempt Items explicitly discussed as requiring permits include fences, pools over threshold size, and utility sheds 100 square feet or larger.
- Building code
- The county zoning FAQ references the current Wabash County Zoning Ordinance effective 1/1/2023. The county page does not separately publish a building code adoption summary in the material reviewed.
