When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Mt. Zion
Permits are required for all construction, additions, alterations, and structural work. Specific confirmed examples: all above-ground and in-ground swimming pools require both a building permit and an electrical permit. Any land disturbance of 1 or more acres, or construction of a new home or business, requires a Land Disturbance Permit in addition to a building permit.
Note: Specific exempt work list not publicly detailed. Minor repairs and maintenance are generally exempt under PA 103-0510 framework and IRC/IBC. Swimming pools are expressly NOT exempt and require permits. Contact (217) 864-5424 for specific exempt list.
