When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Wallace

Note: Because Wallace is entirely listed on the National Historic Register, no exterior portion of any building, structure, fence, light fixture, steps, pavement, or utility structure can be erected, altered, restored, moved, or demolished without prior approval of a Certificate of Appropriateness.

- 03 Submit Certificate of Appropriateness application to City of Wallace Planning & Zoning Department.
- 04 Historic Preservation Commission reviews application; hearing held within 45 days of application receipt.
- 05 HPC must approve project before building inspector can issue permit.
- 06 Once HPC approves Certificate of Appropriateness, application goes to building inspector.
- 07 Building permit typically issued within 1 week after HPC approval.
