Permit triggers and exempt work for New Plymouth
A building permit is required for any structure 200+ square feet, unless structurally attached to a main building.

Application process
Typical processing: 5-7 working days for residential plan review
- 01 Download Residential Building Permit Application from City of New Plymouth website.
- 02 Prepare two sets of construction plans with front, back, and both side views.
- 03 Mail, email (deputyclerk@npidaho.com), or deliver application and plans to City Hall.
- 04 City staff reviews residential plans within 5-7 working days.
- 05 Obtain approved permit and begin construction within permit validity period.
- 06 Schedule inspections with City of Fruitland Building Department at (208) 452-4946.
- 07 For electrical and plumbing permits, apply directly to State of Idaho DOPL.
