City of Salmon

All construction, enlargement, alteration, repair, demolition, and occupancy changes require a building permit. Applications must be complete with all required information; incomplete applications may delay approval.

Building code

City of Salmon enforces the Salmon Development Code (Ordinance No. 17-819, adopted March 1, 2017, updated 2021) and Idaho Building Code standards.

Contractor requirements

Contractors engaging in projects exceeding $2,000 (materials and labor) must register with the Idaho Contractors Board.

   Complete the City of Salmon Building Permit Application.

   Prepare site plan showing property setbacks and compliance from roads, streams, creeks, rivers, property lines, and existing buildings.

   Prepare project plans and specifications.

   Prepare documentation of zoning compliance.

   Submit complete application to the Building Department at 200 Fulton Street, Suite 204.

   For large-scale developments, include letters of review from Public Works Committee, Fire Department, Idaho Power, Idaho Transportation Department (if accessed off State Highway), and City Police Department.

   Pay applicable permit fees upon approval.

   Obtain permit and commence construction.
