When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Fort Valley
The city posts permit forms for building, demolition, development, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and plan review; the building permit form covers new work, additions, repairs, moves, and removals

- Contractors and subcontractors must have a city and/or county business license; electrical, plumbing, and mechanical subcontractors must also have a state trade license
Application process
Application → plan check → issuance → inspection → final
- 01 Download the applicable Fort Valley permit form and, when needed, the separate plan review application from the city forms page
- 02 Complete the permit form with owner, contractor, valuation, square footage, zoning, and project description information
- 03 Submit plans and the plan review application to Planning and Zoning when plan review is required
- 04 Email completed planning and zoning forms to rmiller@fortvalleyga.org or deliver them in person at 204 West Church Street
- 05 After permit issuance, schedule inspections using the phone number printed on the permit form
