When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Okeechobee County
Building permits are required for new construction, additions, alterations, remodels, trade work, and other regulated work in unincorporated areas.
Note: Consult the Florida Building Code permit exemptions cautiously and confirm with the county, as zoning, floodplain, environmental health, driveway, and outside-agency approvals may still apply even where a narrow permit exemption exists. The county maintains an Agricultural Exemption affidavit for agricultural structures.
