Permit triggers and exempt work for Islamorada
A building permit is required for most construction work. Permit-required examples: all life-safety work, all structural work, all floodplain-related work, demolition, excavation, fill, fences, land clearing, new electrical, new mechanical, new plumbing, roofing/re-roofing over one roofing square, signs, storage sheds, and tie-down of habitable structures.

- 01 Confirm the property is within Islamorada village limits.
- 02 If filing as a contractor, register the business in CityView and complete village contractor registration.
- 03 Submit the permit application electronically through CityView.
- 04 If applicable, upload the recorded Notice of Commencement to the permit record after permit issuance and before the first inspection.
- 05 Pay fees by mail, in person, or online through the portal once due.
- 06 Schedule inspections through CityView and complete permit closeout.

Typical sequence: All inspections must be requested through CityView. Registration is required before inspection requests can be made. For improvements over $5,000, except specified HVAC replacement thresholds, a recorded NOC must be provided before the first inspection or the inspection request will be cancelled.
