   If the project involves a fence, home or business addition, shed, roofing, lanai / porch / deck, or window replacement, first obtain a city 'sign off' from the Planning and Zoning Official on the first floor of City Hall.

   Call ahead at (863) 452-4403 or email city staff to confirm availability. Avon Park's permit page states the city official is available from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

   Use the same permit application forms Highlands County uses. City staff will provide or direct you to county forms.

   After the city signs off on the permit form, take the signed county-form packet to the Highlands County Building Department in Sebring for final processing, fee collection, permit issuance, and inspections.

   For broader planning matters such as variances, site development approval, rezoning, special exceptions, and comprehensive plan changes, work through Avon Park Planning and Zoning / the Planning and Zoning Board before permit issuance.
