Unincorporated Brevard County

Brevard County states permits are issued for new construction, alterations, additions, and changes to properties in unincorporated areas, and permit type requirements vary by project.

Owner-builder

The county requires owner-builders to appear in person to submit permit applications and schedule an office appointment.

Contractor requirements

Online permitting is available only to licensed contractors; the county directs applicants to verify licensing through the Brevard County Licensed Contractor Search.

   Confirm the parcel is in unincorporated Brevard County rather than inside one of the county's 16 incorporated municipalities.

   Licensed contractors register in BASS and submit the appropriate permit application with plans and supporting documents; owner-builders must call 321-633-2187 and appear in person.

   Upload plans and required documents, then monitor the permit in BASS for plan review comments, permit number assignment, and payment status.

   Pay applicable permit, review, and code administration fees before issuance.
5. 05
   Schedule inspections through BASS or the county inspection request tools and obtain final approval before occupancy or use.
