When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for La Veta
A building permit must be obtained before the start of any work or ground disturbance within town limits.
Note: The FAQ reviewed did not publish a formal exemption table for work that does not require a permit.
- Building code
- La Veta Municipal Code Title 15, Title 17, Title 18, and Title 19 for buildings, subdivisions, zoning, and historic preservation requirements. The code also applies height restrictions, setbacks, landscaping, historic district preservation, and floodplain rules.
- Owner-builder
- Homeowners can complete their own construction work, including plumbing and electrical work.
- Contractor requirements
- Contractors must have a Town of La Veta contractor's license for the current year. Plumbers and electricians are licensed by the State of Colorado. Painters must have a current Town of La Veta business license.
