When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Sierra County
Sierra County Code Section 12.04.050 requires a permit for construction, erection, enlarging, alteration, repair, demolition, conversion, moving, improvement, and use of any building or structure, including septic systems.
Note: No comprehensive exempt-work list was found on the public building pages. County and planning context documents mention examples in some contexts, but these should be treated as examples only. Related septic, grading, fire, or utility reviews may still be required even if work is exempt from the building permit itself.
