Application Process

1. Submit application electronically to permitclerk@ci.woodland.wa.us or in person at 230 Davidson, Woodland, WA.
2. Plan review by Building Division.
3. Permit issuance.
4. Schedule inspections (24 hours advance notice required).

General Requirements

A building permit is required for all construction work within the City of Woodland.

• Building plans conforming to adopted codes
• Site plan (may be required)
• Environmental checklist (required for structures over 4,000 sq ft)

Contractor requirements

All contractors must have WA State Business License. Electrical permits through L&I. NPDES General Construction Stormwater Permit required for land disturbing activities of 1 acre or more. Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) required. Underground Injection Control (UIC) Permit required for infiltration facilities. Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead (CESCL) required.

Work That Does NOT Require a Permit

• Grading less than 50 cubic yards total (associated with building foundation, utilities, landscaping; no critical areas present; no soil compaction concerns)
• Fences 3 feet or less: No permit required

Important: Fences over 3 feet in height require a permit.
